Karmel Larson — Full Bio

Mama Karmel is co-founder and Chief Care-Giver of the Momni global movement, which aims to “link all moms everywhere” through caresharing technology and “Momni Circles.” It is a simple yet revolutionary sharing economy idea led by Mama Karmel, a social worker, entrepreneur, and mother of eight children. She has spent decades promoting motherhood and lifting families through her employment as a social worker for the Center for Women and Children in Crisis, the Utah Division of Child and Family Services, and the Provo School District.

Her passion for empowering mothers led her to serve in her county as president of American Mothers, Inc. of Utah Valley; director of the Utah County chapter of Parents Television Council; president of the Utah County chapter of Women for Decency; and county liaison for Citizens for Families. In 2007 she was selected as the Utah Valley Young Mother of the Year, and in 2009 she served as Mrs. Utah United States.

As entrepreneurs, Karmel and her husband spent years co-creating musical and educational experiences as owners of Brigham Larson Pianos and Utah Piano Conservatory, and as founders of education cooperatives and a small hybrid school.

The perfect intersection of Mama Karmel’s social work, advocacy, and business background is becoming a social entrepreneur with a restless urgency to solve the global childcare crisis by leading the Momni movement. She is the visionary behind the nonprofit Momni International and the idea of “hour for hour”—for every Momni hour of care given, an hour is donated to a mom in need … from Momni to Mom-in-need! This philanthropic effort hopes to relieve the impact of the international childcare crisis by seed funding caresharing for mothers in developing countries.

She is passionate about being a “mama” and empowering other women to discover the strength and joy of motherhood. There are limitless resources available to mothers who link together, and together, mothers can solve a global need. Mama Karmel believes that we are surrounded by mama friends who are available and willing to help each other … we just haven’t met yet! The Momni app is fixing that … linking mothers one connection at a time!

Watch for her first book, soon to be available, Mama Grit.
